It’s been a while coming but The Thing Remastered has now been released digitally across the storefronts for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S as well as PC. The original game released back in August 2002 for PC and the following month for both Xbox and PlayStation 2 and was developed by Computer Artworks.
The Thing is a sequel to the brilliant John Carpenter film The Thing from 1982 which itself was a remake of 1951 The Thing From Another World.
Set in the same Antarctic outpost as the John Carpenter film, and the prequel which released in 2011 confusingly also titled The Thing, the game sees a team that has been sent into the outpost to determine what happened to the research team.
Billed as a squad based third person shooter survival horror, The Thing upon original release scored mixed results with the critics but was a commercial success, spawning a sequel that was cancelled early in its development.
