We keep hearing about games potentially coming to other platforms from Xbox ever since the beginning of 2024. These rumours have not been stopped or even slowed down by Microsoft’s vague and ever changing communication. The latest from Microsoft came late into 2024 when Phil Spencer stated that any game could go multi platform going forward. This leads us into what we have heard today.
The latest rumours is that Halo: The Master Chief Collection that initially launched for the Xbox One on 11th November 2014 will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch successor the Switch 2. This is building on the previous rumours that a remake of the original Halo is being developed on Unreal Engine for Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 consoles.
With Microsoft pushing their latest marketing campaign of everything being an Xbox, the ability to play all of the key Xbox franchises on competitor platforms would create the perfect opportunity to showcase how this would work. Xbox consoles have been in decline sales wise, and the huge investment into purchasing third party publishers and developers is likely giving the Microsoft management and shareholders reason to push a third party approach but with a console as a side project for those willing to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass.
