GTA VI is Still Coming 2025

It feels like we have been aware of the existence of the next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise for years, and that is largely down to two things. First is the fact it was always obvious Rockstar Games was going to release a new instalment, it was just a matter of when. Secondly, rumours have circulated for multiple years regarding the next GTA release along with some alleged leaks of gameplay showing a modern incarnation of Vice City.

Since the first game, simply called Grand Theft Auto, released all the way back in November 1997 for both PlayStation and PC, there have been seven mainline releases in the franchise. As of time of writing, Take Two, the owners of Rockstar Games behind the GTA franchise, has reassured both gamers and investors alike that the next instalment is still to be releasing in the calendar year 2025.

In December 2023, we got our first official glimpse at the world in what is now known to be GTA VI, not that it was expected to be anything different. The trailer that Rockstar Games dropped clearly shows us what has always been rumoured, that GTA VIA is definitely set in a modern day Vice City.

Interestingly no platforms has been so far revealed although we are certain both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S will be the main focus. Whether or not GTA VIA also releases day one on PC is yet to be revealed, though historically, Rockstar Games prefers to wait one or two years before releasing on PC. If you want to be entirely out there speculative you could chuck in Nintendo’s Switch successor, though it is almost certainly not to be receiving a port.

Assuming GTA VI doesn’t fall into the Rockstar Games trap of delays, 2025 could see a significant boost to both Sony and Microsoft’s console sales.

We are anxiously awaiting the next trailer to drop from Rockstar Games and we are hoping that it’ll be once again in December 2024.
