Although initially planned for an early 2024 release, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars Reforged is a fantastic remake of the game that kickstarted one of my all time favourite gaming franchises.
Initially released all the way back in 1996 for the PC, it was later ported to PlayStation and then Game Boy Advance at a much later date still. Broken Sword comes from the great minds of Revolution Software. Prior to Broken Sword, Revolution Software had great success with both Lure of the Temptress and Beneath a Steel Sky.
Broken Sword was re-released as a Director’s Cut which added several new sections to the game which has been incredibly polarising with the fans of the series, which is why it is great that Broken Sword Reforged has gone back to the original game for the remake.
When initially announced in 2023, a new instalment in the Broken Sword series was also revealed to be in development. At the moment there are very little details about what Broken Sword 6 will be about but we hope to hear news very soon.
In the meantime, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars Reforged is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S and Nintendo Switch, while Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse are both available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
