Ubisoft has been in a financially difficult position for the past several years, but things really became a concern during 2024 after multiple failures left the publisher ripe for takeover. Both Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Star Wars: Outlaws were commercial failures and while the former was a critically beloved return to form for a franchise that hasn’t seen a new entry in over a decade, the latter did not meet such praise.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows was supposed to be released on 15th November 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S as well as PC. However, due to the failure of Star Wars: Outlaws, Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed: Shadows would be delayed to 14th February 2025. February is already a very packed month if you are interested in triple A games, which has had many question whether it was the right time to release such a game that is likely critical to the future of Ubisoft.
Today, Ubisoft announced the second delay for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows which will now release on 20th March 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S as well as PC.
