We are witnessing a new reboot of a retro game, though this one is perhaps a bit more niche than most. Originally an MS-DOS game from 1995, Screamer was a racing title that saw a sequel released one year later in 1996.
Screamer was developed by Graffiti and published by Virgin Interactive and is essentially an impressive looking racing game for its time.
Graffiti has since changed its name and now goes under Milestone, specialising in racing games. Just shy of the thirtieth anniversary of Screamer, a brand new reboot has been revealed at The Game Awards 2024.
Screamer will be releasing at some point in 2026 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S as well as PC and it has taken on a whole new vibe. The reboot of Screamer sees the racing genre meet anime as is evident in the teaser trailer.
