Lionhead Studios is today remembered for both the three Fable games and Black & White, and a lot of Peter Molyneux making promises his team couldn’t possibly deliver.
One of the more forgotten about games to come from the pre Microsoft ownership of Lionhead Studios was The Movies for the PC in 2005. The Movies put you in the position of running a movie studio beginning in the 1920s and going into at the time was the future. Using a mix of simulation, The Sims and freedom to create potential masterpieces, The Movies was perhaps too ambitious for the time.
Unfortunately, such a genre as The Movies is too niche to be tried by any major developer or publisher in todays market but we may be seeing something that will come incredibly close to scratching that itch.
Weappy who have previously released This is the Police and its sequel This is the Police 2, are busy developing Hollywood Animal for the PC. Currently available to wishlist on Steam, Hollywood Animal could be the game we have been waiting for.
Much like The Movies, in Hollywood Animal you find yourself running a studio, although beginning in the era of the talkies rather than the silent era. There seems to be a great amount of freedom as to how you can go about running your studio to, be it through shady criminal activities to help push your films or by obeying the laws. You can create glamorous Hollywood sensations that are made strictly to formulas or go for the boutique style of studio and aim for the winning over of festivals.
We strongly urge that if this sounds appealing to you, that you check out the website where a lot more information and screenshots can be found. Click here to visit the Hollywood Animal website.
