The latest NPD charts for February have been released for the month of February. Remember that for the US charts, these are monthly rather than weekly and mostly include digital sales whereas the UK is weekly and currently is physical only.
Going straight to first spot for the month of February, perhaps to the surprise of many, is Bioware’s Anthem. This replaced Kingdom Hearts III which has slipped to the third spot as Jump Force landed at second position despite somewhat poor reviews. We will be interested to see where both Anthem, and in particular Jump Force end up in March’s results.
Of the other games to come out during February, it’s plain to see that Crackdown 3 never made any impact as like with the UK, it never made the top 10. A lot of this will be of course due to the game being on Xbox Game Pass day one, but of course a lot of the blame must also fall at the feet of the poor reviews for the game and a lack of overall hype surround Crackdown 3.
Metro: Exodus managed to hit the top 10, but not quite as high as you may expect as it only reached 8th position, and seeing as this includes digital, we do have to ask if being Epic Stores exclusive has had any impact on the sales for the game?
The only other new game to hit top 10 for February in the US was Far Cry New Dawn, however that also didn’t perhaps do as well as one may expect as it not only didn’t beat a poorly reviewed Jump Force, but didn’t break top three. Far Cry New Dawn is sitting just missing out the top of the charts at number four.
